Stephanie’s MAKEUP SECRET!

Girls love make-up! whoop!!

‘Kunbi of SitPtretty has worked on some of my photo-shoots and red-carpet moments. She reveals some of the tips of my ready-to-go look!

***

I’ve had loads of opportunities to work on Stephanie’s shoots and Red Carpet events, and I must say, she has a unique love for beauty  products! Which is, of course, the first step to getting the best make-up for yourself – you must love, appreciate and understand the products that work for you!

Beneath her makeup, Stephanie’s skincare is impressive. Stephanie doesn’t start her makeup without a few spritz of MAC Fix+ to refresh her skin and waken her cells. Smashbox’s Photofinish Primer as well as MAC’s Oil Control Lotion are applied to keep oil at bay.

She loves MaryKay foundation and a few drops of MAC’s Lustre Drops are added to give her skin a dewy finish. Iman Oil-Blotting Pressed Powder and Sheer finish bronzing powder finish up her glowy natural look.

Stephanie absolutely loves MAC blushes for her cheeks and MAC’s ‘Oyster Girl’ Tinted “Lipglass” for her lips to achieve that polished yet natural look.

For her brow highlight, she loves using YSL’s Touche Eclat and also a touch of that on her cheekbones.

Hello Chic, i have really oily skin especially on my face. In the past, i have tried using mac studio finish, imani(i stopped because it was a little too dark for my skin) but i still get the same ‘shiny’ effect after about 2hours of application. I wish i could get a good product that will eliminate/reduce the oil. Can you help out? Thanks!

hello Mrs L, u cannot use make up to cover imperfections, u have to deal wt d problem from d root so u can have a canvas(ur skin) for a matte finish make up. and because of our weather when u use make up on a very oily skin, even if the make up is ur shade, they tend to get darker cause of d heat. I’ll recommend Makari peel off mask, toner and shinto clinical micro manage for you. the trio wl permanently put an end to ur oily face and try eating healthy, reduce eating fried food, butter soft drinks and do more broil food and juice/water as your drink, wt these tips, u shd be on ur way to a glowing skin. pls come back on our bog to share your testimony!

I dont use d powder as am addicted to MAC powder, but wl never go for any other matifyng base apart from blackup, for ur sunburn always apply makari anti uv cream to d area and dab some blusher before stepping out, get a blusher slightly lighter than d sunburn, so it looks like u r wearing a darker shade of blusher, using d cream over a period of time wl diminish d burn

Olaey for ur underarms, try and get what works for ur shaving, maybe shaving stick for sensitive skin or shaving cream, after thorough shaving, dab a little methylated spirit on a cotton ball to wipe d shaving area, this will prevent bumps, t may tingle a bit but u shd be able to bear t:-) apply Makari beautifying milk + serum lightening cream to the areas, this can be applied twice a day. pls come back to let us know.

ps – am not a spoke person for makari products, but having tried, tested, i can say the products work better for our tough skin in this part of the world because of our weather, i feel more comfortable to recommend them ’cause they r meant for african skin and they truly work wonders

i know they have a shop in Lagos, make use of facebook, am sure ull find their shop address there!

fair and white contains hydroquinone which u shd stay away from, too may diff products @ d same time is t really advisable for the skin, its always good to tow a line of products, when u mix and match; the result may not be feasible, if u want to deal wt fair/white – get d soap, cleanser, cream et all and if u like boots-get all from boots – so d decision is urs!

when d face is oily, it wl surely bring out spots cause oil clog d pores, get d makari peel off mask, toner and cotton pads no cotton wool please and cleanse ur face thoroughly morning and night, apply makari acne cream and u shd smile.

for ur sweaty armpit, i’ll suggest u get a good deodorant and an underarm shield. they have them n diff shapes and design according to ur preference, i prefer d one i can attach to my bras and they stay under nicely and u can move from morning tl night, no sweat n ur clothes and d pads r wonderfully padded to soak all d sweat that comes out some people r lucky not to sweat underarm while some of us are not, thats how created us – i usually dont wear pink, yellow, purple tops b4 till i discovered d pads, now i can wear any colour and am good to go

@ Chy: I have dark spots and very bad oily face issues that am battling with. I dont know if I can get some of this products you have been recommending to people but I will try and check some of the stores around because I am currently out of naija. if you are out of naija, get into any drug store, grab garnier anti imperfection cleanser wt organic cotton pads, cleanse morning/night wt it, get makari peel off mask – use 2/3 x a week and get makari acne soap wash ur face thoroughly with it and followed by makari acne cream, desist from cleaning ur face wt ur body towel as germs get transferred in d process, opt for paper towel that u can discard after use.
for your dark knuckles, makari scrubbing/peeling cream and clarifying cream will be good for u, everyday u scrub wt the peeler, ts a cream and u can even do it n ur car on ur way to work ts no biggie, after d peeling process, apply d clarifying cream like a hand lotion on d areas – do not wash off both, u shd see results before u r one done wt 1 tube each, pls come back to tell us so we can know if u are happy!

for your crack lips, every other day, get some natural honey mixed wt a little bit of lemon apply on ur lips and leave for 1 minute, scrub gently and rinse away followed generously by applying eucerine lip balm or medilip musk balm and all these balms have UVA & UVB protection for crack lips and always keep a lip gloss in ur bag, as soon as u feel dryness apply ur gloss immediately, if u allow ur lips to dry totally, then d peel start showing, but if u tackle t when its not dry and u dont let it dry off, u’ll exp better lips

for ur skin, i need to know ur skin tone, and whether u have dry skin or oily skin so i can know what you can use!

I always tell my clients to stay away from make up during acne issues esp foundation, Christy read back all d posts earlier, u may pick one or 2 that’ll be of help and if u cannot get any of d products for now, steam ur face wt a teaspoon natural honey and a teaspoon of lemon (green one) mix together and rub on d face for 15minutes and put on ur face steamer & let t steam wt t for like 10minutes, if u don’t v a steamer put a clean towel n warm water, squeeze out d water and plaster on ur face Nd steam wt t, do this every week and u shd notice significant difference, good luck

Making up requires patience and art, trial&error s also allowed, get d right products and u shd be able to do a good job after 10 trials…..lol

Clean ur face properly, apply mattifying base (a little) all over d face, apply ur foundation, if u use 1, draw ur eyebrow preferably wt a brown pencil, apply eyeshadow foundation sparingly and use ur eyeshadow brush to apply ur shadow, depending on d colors uchoose, remember dark starts from d corners of d eyes where ur eyebrow pencil ends, smudge n well wt a good brush and use another brush to apply another color, to make t set well and also to make Ur eyes poppy, make a straight line wt a liquid eyeliner, avoid ur hands shaking as this may smear d good job, mascara ur lashes, top/bottom and brush ur cheeks with blush powder, smile & pat ur round cheeks up to ur temple, don’t make t touch ur nose, u may end up looking like a clown, faintly line ur lips wt d lipliner that matches ur lipstick or lipgloss, do not squeeze ur lips as blood may rush into ur lips and u’ll not get d real color of d lipstick @ that time, just pat wt a lip brush and spread evenly to fill in well, lastly apply your powder all over and ur good to go, try 5/6 more times, we all have our diff ways of doing things and u might even find some tricks urself, lastly let goggle be ur friend, goggle how to do this or that and u’ll find out that making up s not a big deal!
      See u soon!
Am going away & wl be back n few days, keep d blog rolling!

@ chic, my skin is very sensitive and oily too, I usually don’t do much of cleansing because most cleansers are too acidic for ma face; using more break outs..wanna know the ph level of the Garnier imperfection cleanser pls. Also, is tara foundation non-comedogenic?
