10 Things Healthy Women Do Before 7am

Becoming a morning person doesn’t always come naturally, but if you make the conscious effort to get up and incorporate a few healthy practices into your morning routine, you’ll find yourself more awake, more focused, and ready to take on the day! What you do when you first wake up matters because how you spend your morning can set you up for success for the rest of the day.

So, what do Healthy Women do before 7 am? I’ll give you 10 of them:

  1. They don’t hit snooze
It’s tempting to hit that button for a few more minutes in bed, but what impact will a few more minutes have? Get up, and get going! You’ll find yourself feeling wide awake within minutes.
  2. Drink a big glass of water
Drinking more water is one of the best things you could do for your body. Especially after sleeping all night, it’s important to rehydrate as soon as you wake to feel more energized.
  3. Limit phone use
Unless it is absolutely critical for your line of work, don’t check your phone the second you open your eyes. Give yourself at least a little time to be fully present instead of falling prey to the reactive, response mode that all those notifications and alerts promote.
  4. Move your body
Whether it’s traveling to work by bike, starting the day with a sun salutation, or a few laps of jogging around the park, get your circulation going and let the endorphins go wild.
  5. Read
Taking a few minutes to read something inspiring or educational in the morning will put you in a good frame of mind before you’ve even left the house.
  6. Plan your day
It’s often tempting to dive straight into responding to emails first thing in the morning, however taking time to plan your day can improve time and workload management, preventing unnecessary stress caused by short deadlines or last-minute surprises.
  7. Breakfast
Breakfast provides must needed fuel to body and brain after an overnight fast – that’s where its name originates, breaking the fast. Without breakfast you are effectively running on empty, like trying to start the car with no petrol.
  8. Meditate
Some people might not necessarily feel an energy boost from meditating, but because it helps us to think more effectively and efficiently, it should make for a much more productive day.
  9. Make the bed
By keeping a clean and tidy looking room it reflects your mental state. If your mind is open and ready, your room should be clean and tidy. Having a messy bed or bedroom causes my mind to feel jumbled or cluttered and you can’t fully think straight.
  10. Carve out 15-30 minutes for yourself
It is easy to “save” time later in the day to be creative, but it’s often better to place it at the top of your to-do list. Set aside 15 or 30 minutes every morning to do something just for you, just because you like to do it.
