Talk To Steph: My Dad Won’t Let Me Marry A Christian

A StephanieDaily reader, Zainab, sent in this touching email.

I’m a 27 year old girl. I work in an Advertising Agency which doesn’t pay much but with time it will grow. My issue is that ever since my Dad has made it mandatory for all of us to marry Muslim guys, I haven’t met any Muslim guy that I can take home. I just don’t understand why parents are this stubborn. Most of my friends are married with children and I’m still here trying to find a good relationship. Even my ugly friends are married with children. I have prayed and prayed and I am loosing faith. I went as far as asking friends to please introduce me to their husband’s Muslim friends but nothing came out of it. I now ask myself if there is something wrong some where. Please how do I go about this. My Dad would rather die than let me marry a Christian. Please I really need your advice. I’m getting tired. Thanks.

Dear Zainab, first of all, let me give you a big e-hug. I’m very sure you are a pretty and smart young lady and I’d like to remind you to have some confidence in yourself. Don’t think something is wrong with you if your friends get married before you. You are perfectly OK and in due time, you will find true love and marry the love of your life. We all don’t have the same timing in life. Perhaps God is preparing you, and him too, for the time you will eventually meet.

You didn’t mention in your mail that you were in love with, or dating a Christian. It just seems to me from the tone of your message that there are more Christian guys around you or asking to date you than Muslims. I know this can be really frustrating considering your father’s warning. But most importantly, you have to ask yourself what YOU want because eventually, it would be you getting married and not your father. Of course, your father’s wish is very important, but let God and your heart lead you to the best man for you.

I wish you the very best!

How do you mean by Muslim not allowed to marry Christian? This are things that triggers problem in our society today and lots of ladies all in the name ofrreligion they are all in their father’s house till date.. We are all humans and equal in the site of God let’s allows our ladies that are Muslims /Christian marry any religion they wish to as long as that happiness and understanding is there. So abubakar I mean no harm but we are all one body on planet earth thanks

Dear ZAINAB, my advice isn’t more than what any responsible man or woman can tell you about your case. marriage is not something that you can get it at anytime, anywhere or somehow. life need concentration and determination when you get youself into this such condition, nothing that you can do accept what GOD have already put in place for you. just always keep on praying GOD will make a way where there is no way

My dear, anything worth waiting for, is worth having when they finally come. Don’t just get into it because your friends are going into it because, you are going into it with your heart and not your head and it’s something built and not a play. Trust me your, you’ll be the happiest when it’s your time too kk. All the best dear.

From me to you. Zainab listen to this little piece. When God created man he knew that man can not take care of all that he created and he made him a helper which was a woman. My message here is this every man or woman on earth today he or she has someone attached to him or her, the only thing is for you to wait and get yourself prepared for that which God or Allah has for you. Remember God is a perfect timer and he makes all beautiful in his time. Your dream man will come and keep praying if it’s the will of God for you to marry a Christian just keep praying God will soften the heart of your dad God bless you Zainab and God bless you ma Stephanie

Hi Zainab, I had the same problem until I clocked 30th….I thought God didn’t answer my prayer, believe u me,He gave me the best lady that i have been trailing throughout my university years.
…99% better than those ones I thought would make a good home. Just be patient with your God because He has the best plan for each and everyone of us.Mind u, your dad wants the best for you here and hereafter.
