Last night was a historical one in Hollywood as some of the world’s finest actors and contributors to the movie industry were celebrated.<\/p>\n
It’s always lovely\u00a0to see great talents rewarded and I couldn’t help but follow the event keenly.<\/p>\n
A big congratulations to everyone who picked up\u00a0awards and all the nominees too. They are all winners.<\/p>\n
British actor Eddie Redmayne<\/strong> won the best actor award for The Theory of Everything<\/strong>, while Julianne Moore<\/strong> picked up best actress for Still Alice<\/strong>.\u00a0Dark comedy Birdman<\/strong> won best film and best director for Mexican film-maker Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Another highlight of the event was when John Legend<\/strong> and Common<\/strong> brought the house to tears with their\u00a0rendition of best song winner “Glory<\/strong><\/em>,” from the film “Selma<\/strong><\/em>.”\u00a0Images from the Selma-to-Montgomery march and of march leader Martin Luther King<\/strong>, Jr. played out behind them, as a growing chorus joined the stage. By the time the powerful performance was over, the audience was out of their seats applauding and “Selma” lead David Oyelowo<\/strong> had tears streaming down his face.
