It’s All About Marriage Proposals!

I just heard that yesterday – March 20, 2015 – was the National Proposal Day. I didn’t even know a day like that existed!

It was created by a guy named John Michael O’Loughlin to dedicate a day for men to propose marriage. He invented the holiday after his cousin’s boyfriend wouldn’t pop the question after years of dating. Learning from his cousin’s experience, he thought of this day to urge lovers to take the plunge.

One of the most unforgettable moments in someone’s life is when a person receives a marriage proposal from someone she loves. For those who have received one already, it is a moment to remember with fondness. For those who haven’t, it is a hopeful dream.

So, in the spirit of the National Proposal Day, let’s talk about marriage proposals. Those who are engaged or married, recount how it all went down. And for those who aren’t, what is your dream proposal?

I can’t wait to read your stories 🙂

It was on my birthday, funny I got cold that day(cough) at work,my Bf,now my hubby came and took me home and gave me some cold tablets and asked me to rest for a while. He told me he will be taking me out later, though I felt reluctant about it cause I wasn’t feeling too strong, thank God the tablets helped. So he came, picked me up and took me to the restaurant we went to on our first date and it did bring back some memories, thought we were done for the day,He told me he wanted to see a friend @ renowned bar, when we got there,as we got into the VIP,the lights were put on and all I heard was a happy birthday song,i felt embarrassed and surprised that I covered my face, wasn’t expecting that. Then had some fun with friends and family that were there and had some gifts from my friends and my Bf presented his own gift to me,at this,he opened up the gift box and there was a ring,he knelt down and proposed immediately,i felt so shocked and emotional. Yea,but I still said Yes,it was so amazing and romantic, saw so many of my friends there that he invited without my knowledge,he planned all that under my nose without my notice, that was a great one from him. Love him so much.

I too was proposed to by the man I truly love to this day. It was not easy n let me say I didn’t want yo be married after a failed marriage, but when this man took me out for dinner like he always did, this time when all the people in the restaurant watched, he went on his knees n asked if I would marry him. Mmmm it was a surprise, I liked him but I felt I didn’t want marriage till he pronounced that my whole body was shaking n sweating, it’d the best thing that ever happened. We got married 9 months later, n we be been together five years now. Its awesome…

honestly i dont know y some ladies feel like jumping into d air wen given a ring n often times dey look suprised…my question to u steph n odas is dat, wat is d essence of a lady goin into a relationship wit a man?..y d suprise? or are d ladies doin some kind of trial n error stuff (e.g let me just stay n stick to him if he will enventually propose one day).. in my own opinion, it shudnt b so much of a suprise wen given a ring bcos at some point in your r/ship u shld be sure of where its leading to and if u dont know, like unsure of d guy n d way he operates den dere is no point bn in such relationship except ur just in dere bcos of wat u both benefit from each oda.

LoL…So romantic reading all the proposal stories here but mine was so different.
My fiance lives in another country but proposed to me while we were having chats on facebook and I said YES thinking he will still do the normal one on one proposal but I was shocked when he took me to a gold engagement ring dealer and ask me to size my hand, from there I became fully engaged,no sweet talk no romantic displays, later that day,I forced him to place the ring on my middle fingure cos I have to be smart naaa as a Niger babe, it was then that it downed on me that am getting married to a chronic Igbo man lol…..Igbo Kwenu!
