Rest In Peace Amaka Igwe

Amaka Igwe
Today, I heard the shocking news that Amaka Igwe has passed on.

Oh! How we’ve lost a great one!

I’ve lost a friend, a colleague, a mentor, a trailblazer in the industry. I’d remember her for her smile, her courage, her friendship and her determination to raise standards in every thing she does.

I’ve always admired Amaka for a long long time. She was a goal-getter, a woman who was never bound by the limitations in the society but pushed forward always on her dreams and ideas.

She would be fondly remembered as one of Nigeria’s foremost film producers, writer, director and a leading player in the motion picture industry. She was the founder of BoBTV Expo, Top Radio FM amongst other business ventures.

She produced popular soap operas like Fuji House of Commotion, Checkmate, and films including Violated, Rattle Snake amongst others. She found the massive studios of the Enugu State Broadcasting Service from where such classics like the long rested Basi and Company and the New Masquerade were produced.

Rest in Peace Amaka Igwe. May God be with her family in this difficult time and grant them the fortitude to bear this huge loss. You would be surely missed.
